Descrizione dell'iniziativa
The international program aims at gathering students and scholars at Arts Summer School 2025 ‘SPATIAL PRACTICES BEYOND NEW CONSTRUCTION' that will be held at Aalto University, in Espoo (Helsinki), Finland form the 3rd to the 15th of August 2025.
The aim of the summer school is to develop alternative ways of shaping built environments and engaging with related environmental, material, and sociopolitical questions.
Focusing on interdisciplinary collaboration the program will employ transformative futures methods to unpack current unsustainable paradigms, creatively rethink spatial practitioner roles, and develop unconventional solutions to address a concrete spatial challenge at the Aalto campus.
Learning outcomes will be distributed across two weeks of workshops, lectures, and labs, and will regard:
- Environmental, social, and political agency: students will learn about the environmental impacts of the built environment, and gain capacities to develop environmentally and socio- politically responsible modes of engagement in spatial contexts.
- Critical and transformative futures methods: students will learn to employ various futures methods to critically unpack current modes of thinking and creatively explore new alternatives.
- Creative and analytical exploration: students will learn to employ both creative, artistic means and analytical tools in a cross- disciplinary environment to develop radical alternatives for current spatial practices.
