Descrizione dell'iniziativa

Urbà Sensorial is a two-week intensive postgraduate atelier exploring the city of Barcelona in Catalunya through embodied perceptions and relational awareness. Moving beyond the hum, the asphalt, and the scripted, the studio invites participants to engage with the city as both guests and collaborators, opening space for the invisible, the overlooked, and the liminal. Week one will centre on immersive fieldwork—creative encounters, city walks, and multi-sensory explorations. Week two will give form to these experiences as situated installations. Through practices of attunement and interpretation, participants will amplify local ecologies and offer new opportunities for connection in pursuit of regenerative urban imaginaries.   

Objectives:

• Sharpen the senses: tune in to the hidden sounds, textures, and rhythms of Barcelona. 

• Connect across boundaries: engage with the city as a living collaborator (human and non-human) 

• Expose the invisible: reveal the liminal ecologies that shape urban life. 

• Transform insights into action: turn discoveries into situated installations that spark new urban imaginaries. 

  Methods 

• Field immersion: city walks, sensory mapping, attunement rituals, creative encounters. 

• Relational story-making: rapid sketching, mapping, and group reflection to uncover patterns and stories. 

• Hands-on creation: co-design and prototype installations that respond to place. 

  When: Dec 1-12, 2025  Where: RMIT Europe in Barcelona (Spain)    Participation in the workshop is free of charge. Students are responsible for covering their own travel, meals, accommodation, and any expenses related to (few) visits.
