Cookies and web beacons

The University uses a technology called ‘cookies’ to manage its institutional website. Cookies are small data files that are stored on the user's computer when they access the site or parts of it. Cookies help understand which part of the site is the most commonly visited, the visitors' path through the site and how long they remain on the site. Cookies are used to study traffic patterns with the aim of improving the performance of the site itself and to better answer the interests and preferences of visitors. Cookies are also used by websites that provide our site with visitor counters. Recording and tracking/tracing management activities are carried out in such a way as to makes the data non-identifiable. Cookies can also be used to recognise the user's computer the next time they visit the website. This saves time, giving the user, for example, the possibility of not having to register again, or helping them to customise their Internet settings. Web beacons may be used on our site in the test phase with users that take part in usability tests on a voluntary basis. This technology makes it possible to see which visitors have clicked on key elements (such as links or graphics) of a web page or email. These web beacons are usually used along with the cookies. If the user does not want to accept cookies, they can be disabled by following the instructions of the manufacturer of the browser used.
